BIOlaboratory

Experimenting at the convergence of biology, ecology, design, and society using wide-ranging transdisciplinary research methods in the abstract, lab, and field, Labioratorium®, works to solve complex sustainability challenges facing both the private and civic sector, and both locally and globally.

Still emerging and fast evolving fields of design and wider research and practice enquiry, presently, the bio-disciplines present more questions than answers. The potential for their collective applications and impacts to industry, commerce, and society profound, we explore both their commercial and cultural potentialities.

Working to wide-ranging research briefs and budgets, we build bespoke teams of seminal experts across the bio-innovation sector, their expertise spanning fields including, but not limited to bioengineering, biocomputing, biomaterials, biodesign, biofabrication, bioenergy, biomimetics, living architecture, and ecological design.

Versed in designing both a priori and a posteriori studies, we use both established and experimental mixed qualitative and quantitative research methods. Usually adopting a constructivist epistemology, methods we use include reviews, surveys, roundtables, experiments, workshops, prototyping, and more.
